The Buffalo Roam Auction in West Yellowstone

Robin and I just got home today from the big week end in West Yellowstone. It was a great ending to the Buffalo Roam project which began in 2007. Robins calf, Lulubelle, was chosen to be raffled off. Over 2700 tickets were sold and she was won by a man from Boise, Idaho. Robin was pretty happy.
Saturday night was the auction of the rest of buffalo and calves. Buttercup was number 3 and Poppy number 4. Buttercup brought 3800.00 which was great then Poppy sold for 4500.00. I was thrilled to death. It was sad to know it was all over and probably never see any of them again.

West Yellowstone unveiling of the Buffalo Calves

We have just spent the weekend in West Yellowstone. We were there to do the unveiling of Poppy and Lulubelle, our buffalo calves. There were 10 calves painted and they will be displayed around West Yellowstone in stores. Poppy will be in a book store and Lulubelle will be at the Comfort Inn. Buttercup and the rest of the herd were also on display. They all looked great and will be on display again this summer. I believe Buttercup will be at the Yellowstone TShirt store. It was fun seeing her again. We had a great time. Going through the Park was fun and it is beautiful right now.

Lulubelle

Robins Lulubelle, looks like she is getting a good start. There will be lots of wild flowers on this little gal.

Lulabelle

My buffalo calf, Poppy, has a twin sister, Lulabelle. Painted by Robin Berry. We both did Buttercup, the full sized buffalo last year. Lulabelle will be covered with the wildflowers of Yellowstone.

Poppy, Buttercups Calf

Last year I painted Buttercup, a life size Buffalo for West Yellowstone, MT. She stood in front of the Museum there through last summer. Now I am painting her calf, Poppy. This needs to be done and to West Yellowstone by April 1. I have a start, my theme is "Babys of Yellowstone National Park" Actually Poppy has a twin. Robin Berry helped with Buttercup and she is also painting one of the calves. I will keep posting pictures as we progress. We have a bunch of critters to paint. Poppy, the Grizzly and a small Grizzly. All to be done by April 1, did I say this year
